Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of MANDAMUS, to direct the respondent to issue the patta in Survey No.520/2A2 and in door no.1-7 and door no.1-8 which comes under old tax no. 137/CP/23-24/0001915 and new tax no.137/063/900752 to an extent of 3.40 cents situated at Kovilpatti Taluk, Kovilpatti, Tuticorin District based on the petitioner's representation dated 20.02.2026.
ORDER
The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to issue the patta in Survey No.520/2A2 and in door no.1-7 and door no.1-8 which comes under old tax No.137/CP/23-24/0001915 and new tax No. 137/063/900752 to an extent of 3.40 cents situated at Kovilpatti Taluk, Kovilpatti, Tuticorin District based on the petitioner's representation dated 20.02.2026.
2.The petitioner submitted that the petitioner is living in the above address along with his family members. The petitioner owned 2 houses in Survey No.520/2A2 Door Nos.1/7 and 1/8 which was assessed to tax under old Tax No. 137/CP/23-24/0001915 and new tax No.137/063/900752 measuring an extent of 3.40 cents. The petitioner is paying house tax and is enjoying the said property without any hindrance from 01/10/1987, ie., for more than 40 years. The petitioner made a representation to issue patta to the property. However, the respondent has not issued any patta. It is an admitted fact that the land is classified as Natham. 3.The learned Government Advocate submitted that the petitioner ought to submit an online application. Thereafter, only the petitioner's claim would be considered. 4.
But the contention of the petitioner is that she is not having any parent documents. Therefore, the online facility could not be availed. 5.Therefore, the Tahsildar is directed to consider the petitioner's manual representation, conduct spot inspection and thereafter, consider for issuing patta. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6.With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no
order as to costs.
