O R D E R
The petitioner has come forward with this Writ Petition for issuance of a Mandamus seeking a direction to the first respondent to permit the petitioner to conduct 'Jallikattu' historical event at Melarasur Village, Lalgudi Taluk, Trichy District on 20.05.2018 and to provide adequate police protection by considering the petitioner's representation dated 24.04.2018.
2. Heard the learned counsel on both side and perused the records.
3. Though the prayer in this writ petition for issuing a positive direction to the first respondent to permit the petitioner to conduct 'Jallikattu' in Melarasur Village, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice to issue a direction to the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 24.04.2018 and pass orders within a time limit specified by this Court.
4. Having regard to the limited scope of the prayer, which is now sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's representation, this Court is inclined to pass the following direction:
"The first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.04.2018 and pass an appropriate order on merits and in accordance with law, on or before 15.05.2018."
5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No Costs.
