This Criminal Original Petition has been filed praying to direct the respondent to expedite the investigation in Crime No.222 of 2016 and file a final report within a time frame. 2.The learend counsel appearing for the petitioner is present. Mr.P.Kandasamy, learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) takes notice for the respondent.
3.Heard both sides.
4.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner states that after registration of the case, the respondent police have not taken any steps to arrest the concerned accused and there is no iota of progress in the investigation by the respondent police, which shows inaction on the part of the respondent. 5.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) states that the respondent police have registered FIR in Crime No.222 of 2016 under sections 67 of the Information Technology Act 2000 and 506(i) IPC against some unknown persons and the investigation is in progress.

6.It is seen from the records that FIR has been registered in Crime No.222 of 2016 on 17.11.2016 against unknown persons under Information Technology Act, with regard to derogatory remarks made against the petitioner in the social websites and also comments threatening the petitioner and his family members. 7.Considering the above facts and circumstances of the case, this court is inclined to direct the respondent police to expedite the investigation in respect of Crime No.222 of 2016 and file a final report before the concerned court as early as possible, preferably within a period of seven months from the date of receipt of the order copy.
8.With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
