This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to reissue/renew the passport bearing No. L9815332 by considering the petitioner's application in File No. MD1076865944724 dated 21.08.2024.

2. According to the petitioner, the passport issued to her got damaged and its validity has also expired. Therefore, the petitioner submitted an application seeking reissue/renewal of the passport.

3. The second respondent had requested the first respondent to furnish the details of the old passport issued to the petitioner, and therefore the petitioner was called upon to appear and submit her explanation in this regard. Pursuant to the notice dated 02.10.2024, the petitioner appeared before the first respondent and submitted her explanation. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite furnishing the required explanation, the first respondent has not processed the application submitted by her.

4. Mr. B. Satheesh Kumar, learned counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the first respondent, submitted that the application of the petitioner for reissue/renewal of passport will be considered and the passport will be issued subject to the petitioner satisfying all the eligibility criteria.

5. The said submission is taken on record. In view of the submission made by the learned counsel for the first respondent, the Writ Petition stands disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to process the application submitted by the petitioner for reissue/renewal of the passport in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
