Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent No.1 to return back petitioner impounded passport bearing passport No.U2971305 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 07.12.2025 Since the petitioner suppressed is original date of birth in his early passport then obtain new passport with original date of birth but his 1/4

native place wrongly mentions Manapparai Taluk instead of Puththanatham.

ORDER

The petitioner seeks for a direction to the first respondent to return back the petitioner's passport bearing No.U2971305. The passport issued in favour of the petitioner was impound since the petitioner was possessing dual passports.

2. Learned Deputy Solicitor General of India for the respondent submitted that the petitioner was imposed with the penalty to Rs.5,000/- for possessing dual passports and the petitioner subsequently has paid the penalty before the jurisdictional Magistrate Court.

3. In light of the above, the petitioner having been imposed with penalty and also having deposited the penalty amount before the jurisdictional Magistrate Court, the first respondent is hereby directed to 2/4

consider the representation dated 07.12.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law to return the passport within a period of four(4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. There shall be no order as to costs.
