O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned Judge, Mahila Court (District and Sessions Court) Thoothukudi, to conclude the trial in S.C No. 136 of 2022 within a stipulated time frame.

2. The learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that though the case has been committed to the Court of Sessions in the year 2022, the case is still pending at the stage of framing of charges.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) on instruction from the respondent police submits that the case is posted for framing of charges on 19.08.2024.

4. This Court by earlier order dated 12.04.2024 has called for a report from the II Additiona District and Sessions Judge, Thoothukudi and the learned Judge has submitted a report, expressing his difficulty in framing the charges and the orders issued in other cases for concluding 2/4

the trial within a stipulated time. However, keeping the trial pending from the year 2022, without even framing the charges would not be proper. The trial Court has to frame the charges and shall endeavour to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible.

5. With the above said direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
