Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to include their village namely, Kirungakottai Village, Singampunari Taluk, Sivagangai District in the District Gazette for conducting the Jallikattu and consequently give necessary permission for conducting the Jallikattu on 20.05.2018 by implementing the orders passed by the 5th respondent by her proceeding in Na.Ka.No.A1/4455/2017, dated 05.01.2018.

O R D E R

The petitioner is the President of the Jallikattu Committee of Kirungakottai Village, Singampunari Taluk, Sivagangai District. The villagers were permitted to conduct Jallikattu last year. On 05.01.2018, the 5th respondent issued a memo to the petitioner for giving an undertaking to comply with the conditions as per G.O.Ms.No.7, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (AH3) Department, dated 21.01.2017. The petitioner has also given consent to comply with the terms and conditions imposed in the said Government Order. Pursuant to the same, the 5th respondent recommended inclusion of the petitioner's village in the Tamilnadu Government Gazette for conducting Jallikattu. 2.The writ petition before this Court is for a direction to include the petitioner's village in the District Gazette for conducting Jallikattu and consequently for granting necessary permission to conduct Jallikattu on 20.05.2018 in view of the recommendation made by the 5th respondent in proceedings dated 05.01.2018.

3.From the material produced before this Court, it is seen that the villagers of Kirungakottai were directed to comply with the terms and conditions imposed in the above said Government Order with respect to conducting Jallikattu. The petitioner has also given an undertaking and complied with the conditions. The 5th respondent/Tahsildar has also recommended for inclusion of the petitioner's village in the Tamilnadu Government Gazette for conducting Jallikattu. In the meanwhile, the respondents seek publication of the District Gazette for conducting Jallikattu on 20.05.2018.

4.In view of the above, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the request of the petitioner for conducting Jallikattu on 20.05.2018 and pass orders on or before 16.05.2018, in accordance with law.

With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
