ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to take appropriate action to include appropriate penal sections for the offences committed by the accused against the petitioner in Crime. No.23/2026 on the file of the second respondent and also direct the first respondent to monitor the investigation by considering the petitioner's representation dated 8.02.2026.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that he is the de facto complainant on whose instance Crime No.23 of 2026 was registered by the second respondent police for the offences under Sections 296(b), 118(1) and 351(3) of BNS, 2023 as against four accused persons. However, there is no progress in the investigation and therefore, the present writ petition came to be filed seeking indulgence of this Court.

3. The Learned Government Advocate(Crl.side) submitted that proper investigation has been conducted after registration of the First 2/4

Information Report and the sections have been altered to 296(b), 118(1) and 351(3) and 303(2) of BNS, 2023 read with Section 4 of TNPWH Act.

4. Heard both sides and perused the materials availbel on record.

5. Appreciating the respondent police for swiftly altering the offences and the respondent police is further directed to conclude the investigation as expeditiously as possible within a period of four weeks. The second respondent is directed to appraise the progress of the investigation in this case to the first respondent on every Friday and the first respondent is directed to monitory the progress of the investigation from time to time.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
