A complaint has been lodged as against this petitioner and others by one Rukmani. The petitioner has been convicted for the offence punishable under Sections 294(b), 307IPC and Section 3(1)(x), 3(2)(v) of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 by the learned Judge, Special Court for trial of cases under SC/ST(POA) Act, Tuticorin in SC No.16 of 2021, dated 24.12.2025. Challenging the same, the petitioner is intending to file an appeal, however, with a delay of 8 days. Therefore, the petitioner has moved this Criminal Miscellaneous Petition to condone the delay.

2.Since the complaint was lodged under the provisions of SC/ST(POA) Act, this Court, by its order, dated 18.03.2026, has ordered notice to the second respondent/defacto complainant. It is reported that the notice sent by this petitioner to the defacto complainant was returned as ''defacto complainant died''. In view of the above and considering the period of delay, this Criminal Miscellaneous Petition is ordered.
