Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of mandamus to direct the third respondent to grant adequate police protection to the petitioner and their group to perform the pooja, festivals and other functions relating to Kaliamman temple situated at Survey No.1274/19 Porulur Village, Oddanchatiram Taluk, Dindigul District as per the order passed by the first respondent in the proceeding bearing No.7555/2017/A7 dated 04.12.2017 by considering the representation dated 07.05.2018.

Mr.M. Murugan learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents 1 to 3. Notice to the fourth respondent is dispensed with in view of nature of the order to be passed by this Court.

2. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. Though the petitioner has sought for larger relief of a direction to extend police protection to the petitioner for performing pooja, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that he would be satisfied if his representation in this regard dated 07.05.2018 is considered.

4. In view of the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner there shall be a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 07.05.2018 on its own merits and take further action in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Such an exercise shall be done after giving due opportunity to the petitioner as well as to the fourth respondents and any other persons who may be interested in the subject matter.

5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
