ORDER

This Criminal Revision is directed against the order passed in S.T.C.No. 111 of 2024, dated 02.02.2024, on the file of the Judicial Magistrate, Karaikudi, convicting the petitioner for the offences under Sections 129 and 199(A) of the Motor Vehicles Act and levying of fine to the tune of Rs.26,000/- and further direction that the R.T.O., shall suspend the registration of the vehicle for 12 months from the date of the order.

When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Counsel for the petitioner would submit that he is not pressing the relief with regard to the judgment, but only with regard to the condition suspending the registration of the vehicle. He would further submit that though the learned Magistrate has directed the suspension of registration of the vehicle for one year from 02.02.2024, despite the lapse of one year, the respondent police has not chosen to return the vehicle.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) would submit that the Regional Transport Officer has sent an intimation, though dated 30.01.2024, signed on 18.02.2025, permitting the police to release the vehicle on production 2/5

of the proof for payment of fine imposed by the learned Magistrate. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) would further submit that the respondent police is ready to return the vehicle on production of the proof.

4. The learned Counsel for the petitioner would submit that he is ready to produce the receipt for the payment of fine amount.

Considering the above and recording the submissions made on either side, the petitioner is directed to produce the copy of the fine receipt along with the original for verification and on production of the same, the respondent police is directed to release the vehicle by tomorrow (21.02.2025) itself.
