2. The petitioner's date of birth had been erroneously entered in the passport as 07.05.1984.

3. I am satisfied that the petitioner's actual date of birth is 27.03.1985. The birth certificate of the petitioner has been enclosed in the typed set of papers. The passport is a sovereign document. It should contain correct particulars. Even if because of the petitioner's mistake, wrong particulars had been entered, it should be corrected at the earliest opportunity. I therefore direct the respondent to correct the petitioner's date of birth as 27.03.1985 in his passport and re-issue the passport. It is stated that the validity of the petitioner's passport has already expired. While renewing the same, the correct date of birth shall be entered.

4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is allowed. There shall be no order as to costs.
