(Order of the Court was made by D.KRISHNAKUMAR, J.) This writ petition has been filed seeking to direct the first respondent to grant necessary permission and adequate police protection to conduct "Jallikattu" (Manjuvirattu) in Themmakkulam Thidal, Poongudi Village of Sri Aramvalartha Amman Temple situated in the petitioner's village, namely, Poongudi Village, Kulathur https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Taluk, Pudukkottai District.

2. Heard the learned Counsel on either side.

3. According to the petitioner, he along with the village people made a representation to the first respondent on 14.05.2018 for including their village, namely, Poonkudi, Pudukkottai District, in the Gazette notification, so as to conduct "Jallikattu" (Manjuvirattu). However, orders are yet to be passed in the said representation and hence, the petitioner has come forward with the present writ petition.

4. When the matter came up for hearing today, the learned Counsel for the petitioner confined his prayer and submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied, if the representation dated 14.05.2018 is disposed of by the first respondent, on merits, within a stipulated time limit.

5. The learned Special Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that the said representation is pending and the same would be considered in accordance with law.

6. Taking into consideration the aforesaid submissions, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the said representation dated 14.05.2018 and pass orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is needless to state that the petitioner has to submit a copy of the representation dated 14.05.2018, along with a copy of this order to the first respondent.

7. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
