PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to produce the person or body of the minor daughter of the petitioner, namely, Niranjanadevi, D/o.Chelladurai, aged about 17 years before this Court and hand over her to the custody. For Petitioner : Mr.P.Sengutturasan For Respondents : Mr.S.Ravi, Additional Public Prosecutor.

The petitioner seeks production of his minor daughter, namely, Niranjanadevi, aged about 17 years 6 months as of today (13.04.2022). According to the petitioner, she went missing from 15.03.2022. A complaint was lodged on 16.03.2022 and the case was registered in Crime No.135 of 2022. Since the police did not take any further action, the petitioner has approached this Court by way of filing this Habeas Corpus Petition.

2.Mr.S.Ravi, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the detenue had a love affair with the third respondent. Since their parents arranged for her marriage, she eloped with him. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

H.C.P.(MD) No.555 of 2022 3.In view of the above statement, we do not see any illegal detention as alleged by the petitioner. Hence, this Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed. However, the police are directed to pursue the investigation to its logical conclusion and after securing the detenue, produce her before the concerned learned Judicial Magistrate.
