ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by D. KRISHNAKUMAR, J.) The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to permit the petitioner's villagers to conduct 'Jallikattu alias Manjuvirattu' in Thenimalai Village, Ponnamaravathy Taluk, Pudukkottai District, in the event of 'Panguni Uthiram' Celebration at Arulmigu Shri Murugan Temple on 25.03.2024 based on the petitioner's representation, dated 22.02.2024.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that permission had been granted by the authorities to conduct 'Manju Virattu' in the petitioner's village for the year 2018 by issuing G.O(D)No.119 Animal Husbandry Dairying and Fisheries (AH3) Department, dated 26.03.2018. 2/5

3. However, the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the said Government Order has been issued for the said particular year only. He would further submit that the petitioner's village in which "Manju Virattu" event is sought to be conducted by the petitioner, is not notified in the Government Gazette published under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

4. Since the Government had already issued a Government Order in the year 2018 granting permission to conduct 'Manju Virattu' in the petitioner's village, it is for the petitioner to make an appropriate application before the Government for notifying the village in the Government Gazette.

5. With the aforesaid liberty, this writ petition stands dismissed. No Costs.
