This petition has been filed to relax the condition imposed in 6(b) in Crl.O.P.(MD).No.926 of 2026 dated 20.01.2026. 1/5

2.On 20.01.2026, this Court has granted bail with the following condition:

6.[b] the petitioner shall report before the respondent police daily at 10.30 a.m., until further orders; 3.Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner requested this Court to relax the condition imposed in paragraph No.6(b) of the order passed in Crl.O.P.(MD).No.926 of 2026, dated 20.01.2026.

4.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), on instructions would submit that investigation is still pending. 5.Therefore, this Court directs the Investigating Agency to file a status report in petitions seeking relaxation of conditions in cases involving heinous offences. Insofar as the present case is concerned, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that the investigation is still pending. Considering the fact that the petitioner has been regularly complying with the condition imposed by this Court, the said condition is modified and the petitioner shall report before the respondent police once in a month, i.e., on the first working day of every month, until further orders. 2/5

6.This Court, in a number of cases, has found it difficult to ascertain the progress of investigation in heinous offences such as murder and other serious crimes after the grant of anticipatory bail. This Court notes that, despite the grant of anticipatory bail, the Investigating Officer has not taken effective steps to complete the investigation and file the final report leaving the present matter unattended. Such delay, without any justifiable reason, amounts to failure of proper and fair discharge of investigative duties. 7.This Court directs the Director General of Police to issue appropriate instructions to all the Investigating Officers to ensure that status reports indicating the stage and progress of the investigation and filing of final report are filed before the concerned Courts.
