Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents herein to prevent the illegal quarrying of sand in Singanthakuruchi Village, Karungulam Panchayat, Srivaikundam Taluk, Thoothukudi District and within ambit of Karungulam Panchayat and consequential direction to seize the equipments used for illegal and indiscriminate quarrying and transporting the sand based on the petitioner's representation dated 06.06.2020. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) Today when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1, 2, 4 & 5 would submit that no sand quarrying/mining operations are allowed in the subject place.

2. Therefore, in the event of any illegal sand quarrying/mining, the petitioner is at liberty to file a complaint before the jurisdictional police and the revenue authorities who in turn has to initiate prosecution against the offenders.

3. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above observations. No costs.
