... Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent no.2 herein to dispose of the Appeal, dated 12.11.2024 filed by the petitioner under Section 12 of the Tamil Nadu Patta Passbook Act, 1983 within the time frame stipulated by this Court.

The petitioner seeks an issuance of writ of mandamus to direct the 2nd respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal, dated 12.11.2024.
2. The grievance of the writ petitioner is that the application for subdivision and separate patta of the petitioner has been rejected by the 3rd respondent, as against which, an appeal was preferred before the 2nd respondent, even as early as on 12.11.2024. Further, persons who have sought for a similar subdivision and separate patta have been granted patta subsequent to the petitioner's application being rejected by the 3rd respondent. The learned counsel for the petitioner would therefore contend that the 2nd respondent has to necessarily take into account all these factors and dispose of the appeal pending from 12.11.2024.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents.

4. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for in this writ petition, direction is issued to the 2nd respondent to pass orders on merits and dispose of the petitioner's appeal, dated 12.11.2024. It is also made clear that while disposing the appeal, the 2nd respondent shall also taken into account any subdivision or separate patta issued to third parties. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
