Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to process the petitioner's application dated 14.08.2020 within a stipulated time period in accordance with law by considering the representations dated 26.10.2020 and 11.10.2021. For Petitioner : Mr.C.Senthil Murugan For Respondents : Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, Standing Counsel.
ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondents to pass final orders on the petitioner's application dated 14.08.2020 seeking for electricity service connection for his agricultural lands within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. According to the petitioner, he is a physically challenged person. He has applied for electricity service connection for his agricultural lands under the physically challenged quota on 14.08.2020. It is also his case that he has also given representations dated 26.10.2020 and 11.10.2021 thereafter, requesting the respondents to expedite and grant electricity service 1/3
connection in his name. Since his application has not been considered till date, he has filed this Writ Petition.
3. Heard Mr.C.Senthil Murugan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, learned Standing Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.
4. The petitioner has produced relevant documents/records to substantiate his case that he is entitled for electricity service connection under the physically challenged quota. He has sought for a direction from this Court for early consideration of his application seeking for electricity service connection for his agricultural lands.
5. Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, learned Standing Counsel for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that similarly placed persons who have also applied under the physically challenged quota are also waiting in the queue and only based on the seniority, electricity service connection will be granted to the petitioner. He would further submit that in due course, the petitioner will be granted electricity service connection based on his seniority. The said statement is recorded.
6. For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the second respondent to grant electricity service connection to the petitioner for his agricultural lands under the physically challenged quota as expeditiously as possible.
7. With the aforesaid direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
