O R D E R

The writ petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the first respondent / Revenue Divisional Officer, Madurai South, to issue legal heirship certificate which had already been issued in Pa.Mu.No.30255/2008 C1 dated 24.11.2008 by changing the name of the petitioner from "Santhana Gopal" to "Mani". The petitioner had given a representation on 15.02.2023. The petitioner claims that his name is actually Mani, but, unfortunately, in the legal heirship certificate relating to the death of his father, his name has been reflected as Santhana Gopal.

2. The learned counsel stated that in all the Government documents namely, pan card, aadhar card, voter's identity card and family card, his name has been given only as G.Mani. He claims that in the legal 2/5

heirship certificate alone the name has given as Santhana Gopal. A representation has been given.

3. A direction is issued to the first respondent to issue notice to the petitioner, to also issue notice to the mother, sisters and brothers of the petitioner herein, verify the bonafide of the claim of the petitioner herein and if it is found true, change the name of the petitioner from "Santhana Gopal" to "Mani" in the legal heirship certificate. It shall be done, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
