Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 3rd respondent to conduct a thorough review of the revenue records pertaining to Patta No. 867 in Survey No. 949/4A1 and to rectify the erroneous inclusion of the Bhoomidhan Boards name in Patta No. 867 and consequently issue an updated patta reflecting the petitioner rightful ownership of the property by considering the representation dated 21.01.2025. 1/5

ORDER

I have heard Mr.S.Lakshmi Narayanan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.M.Lingadurai, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

2. With the consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal, at the admission stage.

3. The petitioner seeks rectification of errors in the patta reflecting the petitioner's patta lands as Bhoomidan lands.

4. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that though the Tahsildar can only enquire and give a report, the final decision has to be taken by the Director of Land Reforms, Chennai.

5. Considering the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a 2/5

direction to the third respondent to conduct an enquiry and forward his report to the Director of Land Reforms, Chennai, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the report, the Director of Land Reforms, Chennai shall take a decision on merits and in accordance with law, if necessary, after affording an opportunity to the petitioner, within a period of sixteen weeks thereafter. No costs.
