: Respondents Prayer : The Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to grant permission and protection to entire Irudhaya Andavar Temple, Kalimangalam, Aavoor Post, Viralimalai Taluk, Pudukkottai District is to be celebrated (Aadal Paadal) Programme on 10.06.2018 at night 8.00 P.M. to 12.00 PM on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 05.06.2018. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for issuing a direction to the the respondents to grant permission and protection to entire Irudhaya Andavar Temple, Kalimangalam, Aavoor Post, Viralimalai Taluk, Pudukkottai District is to be celebrated (Aadal Paadal) Programme on 10.06.2018 at night 8.00 P.M. to 12.00 PM on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 05.06.2018.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.
3. According to the petitioner, he made a representation to the respondents on 05.06.2018 for granting permission and protection to conduct the "Aadal Padal programme" will be scheduled on 10.06.2018 at night 8.00 P.M. to 12.00 PM, in the event of the Irudhaya Andavar Temple, Kalimangalam, Aavoor Post, Viralimalai Taluk, Pudukkottai District. But, so far, no order has been passed by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that the said representation will be considered on merits within a specified time that may be fixed by this Court.
5. Considering the submission made by the learned counsel appearing on either side without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's case, this Court is inclined to dispose of the Writ Petition with the following direction: "The second respondent, Police is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 05.06.2018, as expeditiously as possible, preferably on or before 09.06.2018, and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law."
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
