: Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records of the Syndicate Resolution of the first respondent University in the 151st meeting of the Syndicate held on 30.12.2013 in Item Nos.81 and 82, quash the same and consequently, direct the first respondent University to not to operate beyond the territorial jurisdiction under the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Act, 1990 in the form of Off-Campus/Study Centers, affiliated colleges, centers operating through franchises, courses under Distance Mode.

O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by S.NAGAMUTHU, J.] The petitioner has come up with this Public Interest Litigation seeking to quash the Syndicate resolution of the first respondent University, in its 151st meeting held on 30.12.2013, as item Nos.81 and 82, wherein the Syndicate decided to have campus/study centres outside the territorial limits of the University. The further prayer is to restrain the first respondent University from operating any such campus/study centres or affiliated colleges, outside the territorial jurisdiction of the said University, which is governed by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Act of 1990.

2. Today, when this Public Interest Litigation was taken up, it was reported by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is no more. The learned counsel appearing for the University submitted that as of now, the University has taken a decision not to operate any campus/study centre outside its territorial jurisdiction. The territorial jurisdiction covers three districts, namely, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Tuticorin. Beyond these three Districts, the University is not going to run any campus/study centre. The said statement is recorded. Thus, the Writ Petition itself has become infructuous and accordingly, the same is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petitions are also dismissed.
