Respondents PRAYER:- Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to monitor that the fishing auction of the Tank/Kanmai situated at Poigaikudi Village, Asur, Trichy District, for the year of 2026 is being held in a fair and transparent manner in the light of the petitioner's representation dated 25.02.2026 as expeditiously as possible.

ORDER

The grievance of the petitioner is that the fishing auction in respect of the tank/kanmai situated at Poigaikudi Village, Asur, Trichy District, is likely to take place shortly.

2. The petitioner submits that there are vested interests attempting to scuttle a fair and transparent auction and, therefore, seeks a direction to the respondents to monitor the auction proceedings.

3. At the outset, it is seen that no date has been fixed for the auction. As and when a date is fixed, the first respondent / District Collector shall depute a responsible official to monitor the conduct of the auction, in view of the apprehension expressed by the petitioner that the process may not be free and fair.

4. With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. It is made clear that this order shall operate only if the first respondent takes a decision to conduct the auction of fishing rights and shall not be construed as a direction to conduct such auction.
