Seeking Mandamus to grant permission and to provide adequate police protection to conduct the Venkudai Ritual Dance Festival in Neer Kaatha Aiyyanaar Temple situated at Aiyyan Kollai Kondaan Village, Merkku Thodarchi Malai (Western Ghats) Adivaram, Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar District, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that there is a traditional performance of '' Venkudai Ritual Dance'' in the temple festival and therefore a direction may be issued to grant permission to the petitioner to conduct the dance programme. 2/5

3.Mr.T.Senthil Kumar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who takes notice for the respondents submits that due to announcement of election notification and in order to avoid any untoward incidents and law and order issues, the request of the petitioner for conducting dance programme could not be considered. 4.In view of the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor that in view of the announcement of election notification, the request of the petitioner could not be considered, this writ petition is disposed of with a liberty to the petitioner to approach the concerned Assistant Returning Officer. No costs.
