Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the first respondent to expeditiously pass appropriate orders by considering the Petitioner's mercy petition dated 24.08.2023.in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court. ORDER

The petitioner filed this writ petition seeking a direction to the first respondent to pass appropriate orders on the Petitioner's mercy petition dated 24.08.2023.

2. Heard Mr.R.Alagumani, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.S.Shanmugavel, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.

4. The petitioner has been given with the punishment of stoppage of increment for a period of two years with cumulative effect. He has preferred the appeal before the third respondent and the same was dismissed. Subsequently, the petitioner has filed a review petition before the second respondent and the same was not also not considered favourably. Thereafter, the petitioner filed a mercy petition before the first respondent and the same is pending. Since the mercy petition is pending from 24.08.2023 without any orders, the petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking directions for speedy disposal.

5. Since the petitioner's mercy petition dated 24.08.2023 has not been considered so far, the first respondent is directed to consider the mercy petition of the petitioner dated 24.08.2023 and pass orders in accordance with law and on its own merits within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of.
