O R D E R
This Writ petition is filed for issuing a direction to the respondents to grant permission and protection for Kabadi Tournament Programme scheduled to be held from 23.06.2018 at 12.00 pm to 24.06.2018 at 12.00 noon in the Pannayaar Thidal, Ammankovil Theru, Kurippankulam, Alangulam Taluk, Thirunelvlei District.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the Kabadi Tournament is being conducted by the villagers regularly in order to promote harmony among public and that a representation was given to the respondents, however, the same was not considered by the respondents so far and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition. further submit that as the aforesaid tournament is conducted in a peaceful manner by the villagers, there will be no untoward incident on account of this tournament.
4. Though the representation given by the petitioner before the respondents, it is stated that so far they have not considered the representation. It is in the said context, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's case, is inclined to pass the following directions:
(a) The petitioner shall submit a copy of the representation along with this order to the 2nd respondent. (b) The 2nd respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 06.06.2018 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, on or before 21.06.2018.
(c) In case the second respondent decide to permit the petitioner to conduct the event as it was scheduled by the petitioner, the same will be subject to the usual conditions or any other reasonable conditions, so as to ensure the law and order and communal harmony.
5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
