PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent i.e., the Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's appeal dated 09.04.2018 regarding payment of interest for belated payment of retirement benefits, within a specified time other orders as may be fixed by this Court. The petitioner's father was working as a Rural Medical Officer in Sivagangai Panchayat Union. He retired from service on 31.03.1987 and passed away in the year 2004. DCRG and other benefits payable were belatedly settled. Therefore the petitioner gave a representation dated 18.06.2017 to the respondents, seeking payment of interest for the belated payment. But the same was rejected on the ground that there is no sure for sanction of interest. Hence the petitioner preferred an appeal dated https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
09.04.2018 to the first respondent. The first respondent is directed to consider the said appeal petition and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
