: Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to expedite the petitioner's application in S.A.No.8984 of 2017, dated 20.11.2017, within a period as stipulated by this Court and consequently, to direct the first respondent to impose cost on third respondent under Section 20 of the Right to Information Act for his wilful default. ORDER

The petitioner has made an application under the Right to Information Act to the second respondent on 04.08.2017. The same was forwarded to the Public Information Officer, namely, the third respondent herein on 08.08.2017. The petitioner has also sent a copy of the application to the third respondent on 13.10.2017. Since the petitioner did not receive any information, he has approached the first respondent by way of Second Appeal. Since no intimation is forthcoming, the petitioner filed the present Writ Petition.

2. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the third respondent has produced a communication addressed to the third respondent stating that the information sought for by the petitioner is ready. A copy of information sought for by the petitioner runs to 1850 pages and if the petitioner pays a sum of Rs.3,700/- (Rupees Three Thousand and Seven Hundred only) towards expenses, it will be furnished to the petitioner.

3. Recording the submissions of the third respondent, a direction is given to the petitioner to remit a sum of Rs.3,700/- (Rupees Three Thousand and Seven Hundred only) at the general account of the Panchayat concerned and obtain the information sought for by him.

4. The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
