Mr.S.Shabi Bino, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent.

2. With the consent of both sides, this writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

4. The petitioner herein, while serving as Assistant Audit Officer at Coimbatore under the Audit Wing of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, was subjected to disciplinary proceedings resulting in imposing a punishment of compulsory retirement, vide proceedings in Se.Mu.Na.No.5159/2022-2/A4, dated 03.10.2025, issued by the Chief Audit Officer, Chennai. Aggrieved by the said proceedings, on 15.11.2025, the petitioner claims to have filed an appeal under Rule 19 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Civil and Appeal) Rules before the respondent. However, according to the learned counsel for the petitioner, thereafter, no steps have been taken by the respondent on the said appeal as on date.

He further submits that the punishment of compulsory retirement came to be imposed on the petitioner, when he was due for consideration for promotion to the higher post and because of the pendency of the appeal, the petitioner is likely to loose the opportunity of promotion and he is also at the verge of attaining the age of superannuation and hence, he pleads urgency in this matter.

5. Mr.S.Shaji Bino, learned Special Government Pleader, on instructions, appearing for the respondent submits that the appeal filed by the petitioner would be disposed of by the respondent as expeditiously as possible.

In the light of the above, without going into the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to dispose of the appeal dated 15.11.2025 filed by the petitioner against the proceedings in Se.Mu.Na.No.5159/2022-2/A4, dated 03.10.2025, issued by the Chief Audit Officer, Chennai, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, on or before 31.05.2026 positively and communicate the result of the appeal to the petitioner forthwith. No costs.
