ORDER

Heard both sides.

2.The writ petitioner is a political activist. He belongs to Mutharaiyar community. The petitioner wants to install a statue of the King "Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar" in the petition mentioned survey number. It is not in dispute that it is a patta land. The petitioner approached the first respondent for permission. Permission was rejected. Challenging the same, this writ petition has been filed. 3.My attention is drawn to the order dated 04.01.2024 made in W.P.(MD)No.24595 of 2023. Following the earlier decisions of this Court, I had held that for installing statue of a leader in one's patta land, there is no need to obtain permission from the authority concerned. The impugned order is therefore quashed. The petitioner is at liberty to 2/4

install the petition mentioned statue in the petition mentioned patta land. I make it clear that the relief granted in this writ petition is only regarding installation and unveiling of the statue. As regards construction of Manimandapam, the petitioner will have to obtain permission from the authority concerned.

4.This writ petition is partly allowed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
