This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the directing the respondent to take all 36 appeals filed by the petitioner on file and dispose of the said appeals within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

2. The temple, namely, Arulmighu Kothandaramar Thirukovil, is under the control and administration of the Thanjavur Palace Devasthanam. The temple owns certain properties situated in Ottakudi Village, Thiruvarur District. However, the Revenue Department, without issuing any notice, has classified the said lands as "Tharisu." On coming to know of the entry made in the revenue records, the Devasthanam preferred 36 appeals before the respondent seeking change of the entries in the revenue records. On 06.11.2020, all the appeals were filed, however, the respondent has not taken the said appeals on file till date. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition seeking a direction to the respondent to take the appeals on file and dispose of the same.

3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the State would submit that the Appeals filed by the petitioner would be disposed of in accordance with law.

4. Considering the limited request made by the petitioner, there shall be a direction to the respondent to dispose of 36 appeals filed by the 2/4

petitioner and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of sixteen (16) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case, and it is open to the respondent to consider the same independently.

5. Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
