Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the respondents herein their men agents or servants from in any manner indulging in unlawful quarry in sand and key from the Kanoor Kanmoi comprised in S.No.71 Kanoor village, Thiruppuvanam Taluk, Sivagangai District. ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by R.SUDHAKAR,J.) The grievance of the petitioner is that in the guise of desilting, excess amount of mud and sand has been removed which will destroy ecology of the entire lake which is supplying water for irrigation to five or more villages.
2.Whatever may be the reason, whether it is a case of deepening or utilizing the sand or mud for other purpose, several guidelines have been issued by the Government as well as by this Court as to how the water bodies should be maintained. The authorities shall keep in mind the relevant provisions of law and the orders of this Court and consider the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
representation of the petitioner and take steps to ensure that the water body is properly maintained.
