Mr.P.Thilak Kumar, learned Standing Counsel for the Government, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.
2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st, 2nd and 4th respondents to grant permission for installation of Dr.Ambedkar's Full Bronze Statue in front of Orathanadu new combined Courts Building based on the petitioner Association's representations dated 14.09.2018, 21.11.2019 and 24.02.2021.
4. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner is the President of Orathanadu Taluk Adi Dravidar Welfare Association. The petitioner made a representation to the first respondent on 28.08.2018 requesting permission to erect Bronze Statue of Dr.Ambedkar in their locality and the same was forwarded to the Selection Grade Municipal Office, Orathanadu for further progress, wherein the petitioner was directed to get No Objection Certificate from the authorities concerned. Therefore, the petitioner made representations dated 17.06.2019 and 15.07.2019 to the sixth respondent seeking No Objection Certificate to install the statue and the same were forwarded to the fourth respondent. Since, there was no further action, the petitioner made a representation to the 4th respondent on 21.11.2019. The petitioner also made a representation dated 24.02.2021 to the first respondent in this regard. However, there is no action on the part of the respondents so far. Hence, this writ petition.
5. The learned counsel for the petitioner would state that it would be suffice if a direction is given to dispose of the representations of the petitioner.
6. The learned standing counsel for the respondents would state that the representations of the petitioner would be considered within a reasonable time.
7. Considering the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the respondents and in the light of the 2/4
facts and circumstances of the case, without going into the merits of the case projected by the petitioner either in his representations or in this Writ Petition, the second respondent is directed to consider the representations of the petitioner dated 14.09.2018, 21.11.2019 and 24.02.2021 on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order
8. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No Costs.
