ORDER

This petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondent police to consider the representation of the petitioner to provide Personal Security Officer/Gun Man protection to the petitioner. 2.According to the petitioner, he is an active member of a political party and has been receiving various life threats from the anti-social elements, thereby he has filed an application before the respondent police on 22.02.2023 for providing Personal Security Officer/Gun man.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor has filed a counter affidavit to the effect that earlier in the year 2016, two Armed Force Personnel were assigned for protection to the petitioner and on one day, the petitioner has asked the Personal Security Officers to go home and then, he is involved in a case in Crime No.454 of 2016 registered for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 323, 324 and 506(ii) IPC. It is submitted further that there were about 34 cases in all against the petitioner and most of the cases are still pending against him. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the representation of the petitioner for providing Personal Security Officer/Gun man has not been disposed of. 4.In view of the above submissions made by the learned counsel on either side and on perusal of the documents including the counter, the respondent police are directed to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 22.02.2023 on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
