CORAM:
THE HONOURABLE MR JUSTICE P.B. BALAJI I.Robert Chandra Kumar .... Petitioner /Vs/ The Tahsildar, Madurai East, Othakadai, Madurai.
.... Respondent PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to issue patta in the name of the petitioner and his wife Sabitha in respect of the property in Plot No.2 Resurvey No.3/26, New Ward No.9, Old Ward No.28, Sriram Nagar, Uthangudi, Madurai - 625023 by considering the petitioner's patta Transfer Application No.2024/0103/24/327489 and Representation dated 09.10.2024.

ORDER
I have heard Mr.K.Dileeban, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.B.Saravanan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner has purchased the property in and by the registered sale deed dated 13.06.2024 and he promptly made an application for transfer of patta on 18.06.2024 itself. He would further submit that such independent application was not even necessary in view of the prevailing rules that the patta would automatically stand transferred on registration of document, according to the Press release of the State Government. However, he would submit that despite the same, no steps were taken to transfer the patta in favour of the petitioner. He therefore, made an application on 18.06.2024 which is pending for the past several months without any orders being passed.

3. Considering that the petitioner's vendor was holding patta and the said property has been conveyed to the petitioner by the registered sale deed, there can be no impediment for the authorities to effect transfer of patta in the name of the petitioner. In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to pass orders on the petitioner's patta transfer application dated 18.06.2024, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Index : Yes / No NCC : Yes / No 28.03.2025 am To The Tahsildar, Madurai East, Othakadai, Madurai.
