O R D E R
The prayer sought for in this writ petition is for a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's application dated 03.07.2017 in respect of granting appointment on compassionate ground within a fixed time limit that may be fixed by this Court.
2.Heard Mrs.P.Kalaiyarasi Bharathi, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.D.Sivaraman, learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents.
3.It is the case of the petitioner that his father was working as Driver at Thuvarankurichi Depot of the respondent Corporation and while he was in service, he died in harness on 31.03.2017. Therefore, the petitioner, who is the son of the deceased employee had given application on 03.07.2017 seeking compassionate appointment. Even though the said application had been given a year back, the same has not been considered. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court.
4.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that if the said representation of the petitioner dated 03.07.2017 is directed to be considered and an order to that effect is directed to be passed, the petitioner would be satisfied.
5.I have heard the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents who would submit that the request of the petitioner dated 03.07.2017 would be considered in accordance with law, within a time frame.
6.Considering the said submissions made by both sides and taking into account the circumstances of the case, this writ petition is disposed of with the following direction: "The first respondent is directed to consider the representation/application made by the petitioner dated 03.07.2017, seeking for compassionate appointment and pass orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order".
7.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
