The prayer in the writ petition is for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to conclude the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner, vide charge memo, No.7793/A2/2012-1, dated 23.03.2012, by passing final orders within a stipulated period.

2. Mr.S.Sadeskumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent. With the consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.

3. According to the petitioner, after facing departmental proceedings pursuant to the charge memo, dated 23.03.2012, initiated under Rule 17(b) of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955, he received a report from the Enquiry Officer, on 10.04.2014, finding him not guilty. However, the respondent differing with the said report, by notice, dated 11.03.2015, called upon the petitioner to submit his explanation as to why disciplinary proceedings should not be taken against him and for which he submitted his explanation on 23.04.2015. Subsequently, the respondent vide proceedings, dated 10.06.2015, called upon the petitioner to appear for personal hearing and pursuant to which he took part in the personal hearing conducted on 23.06.2015. matter pending. Therefore, he has filed this writ petition seeking the relief as stated above.

Considering the fact that enquiry is over as early as on 23.06.2015 and the matter is pending sofar, the respondent is directed to conclude the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner, vide charge memo, No.7793/A2/2012-1, dated 23.03.2012, by passing final orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
