PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to allow the petitioner's son namely Parthasarathy (C.P.No.2561) to undergo his remaining punishment period at Central Prison, Madurai, permanently by considering the representation dated 18.02.2025.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA,J.) The writ petition is filed to direct the respondents to allow the petitioner's son namely Parthasarathy (C.P.No.2561) to undergo his remaining punishment period at Central Prison, Madurai, permanently by considering the representation dated 18.02.2025.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents. 3.When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that

originally the convict was retained at Central Prison, Coimbatore and later, he was temporarily transferred to Central Prison, Madurai. Now the Director General of Prison, Chennai, vide communication dated 14.05.2025 in No.3043/rpe.2/2025, has directed the petitioner to be retained permanently in Central Prison, Madurai and thereby nothing survives for further adjudication. 4.Recording the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Writ Petition stands closed as infructuous.
