Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent No.1 to constitute a committee of experts to study the equivalence of B.Sc (Electronics and Communication) offered by Madurai Kamaraj University with the regular B.Sc (Physics) and consequently to direct the respondents to appoint the petitioner in the post of School Assistant (B.T. Assistant) in Physics within the time stipulated by this court. For Petitioner :

Mr.R.Anandharaj, learned Government Advocate, takes notice for the respondents.

2. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for disposal.

3. The petitioner seeks for a direction directing the first respondent to constitute a committee of experts to study the equivalence of B.Sc (Electronics and Communication) offered by Madurai Kamaraj University with the regular B.Sc (Physics) and consequently directing the respondents to appoint the petitioner in the post of School Assistant (B.T. Assistant) in Physics.

It is stated that the petitioner passed B.Sc in (Electronics and Communication) from a college affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University and also studied B.Ed., degree from a college affiliated to Tamilnadu Teachers Education University. It is further stated that the petitioner applied for the post of School Assistant in Physics and even though he secured 64.7 marks, his results were withheld with the remarks "for want of equivalent for B.Sc (Electronics and Communication)". Therefore, the petitioner sent a representation on 24.07.2014 to the first respondent to constitute a committee of experts to study the equivalence of B.Sc (Electronics and Communication) offered by Madurai Kamaraj University with regular B.Sc (Physics). As the said representation has not been considered so far, he approached this Court by way of this writ petition.

Considering the fact that the petitioner has made a representation on 24.07.2014 seeking for appointment of committee to go into the equivalence issue of the degree, namely, B.Sc (Electronics and Communication) offered by Madurai Kamaraj University with the regular degree of B.Sc., in Physics, it is for the first respondent to constitute such committee without any further delay.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to constitute such committee and finally furnish the report to the petitioner within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Once the report is furnished, then, it is for the petitioner to work out his remedy in respect of his other limb of prayer sought for in this writ petition, separately. No costs. Consequently connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
