O R D E R

The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing respondents 1 and 2 to provide a new electricity service connection in the name of Sri Arulmigu Ayyanar Temple and Sri Arulmigu Saptha Kanni Matha Temple situated at Survey Nos. 54/2 and 23/4, Palavathan Kattalai Village Panchayat, Pilanchery Village, Kumbakonam Taluk, Thanjavur District.

2. The petitioner submitted an application to the respondents seeking a new electricity service connection in the name of the aforesaid Temples. However, the said application has not been considered on the ground that the petitioner was seeking the service connection in his individual name.

3. A perusal of the records reveals that the petitioner is a worshipper of the deities of the said Temples, and the jurisdictional 2/4

Tahsildar has also issued a No Objection Certificate for providing electricity service connection to the Temples. In the present writ petition, the petitioner seeks a direction to provide electricity service connection in the name of the Temples.

4. In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents 1 and 2 to provide electricity service connection in the name of Sri Arulmigu Ayyanar Temple and Sri Arulmigu Saptha Kanni Matha Temple, subject to the Temples satisfying all other eligibility criteria.

5. The above exercise shall be completed within a period of four

(4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. No costs.
