Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to reinstall and replace the cobalt isotopes source, which is said to be expiring in the month of February, 2015 for provide radiation therapy treatment for cancer patients in Radiation Oncology department in Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital and to direct the respondents to provide Brachy Therapy Treatment facility to the cancer patients in Radiation Oncology Department in Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital within a stipulated time.

Litigation seeking a direction to the respondents to reinstall and replace the cobalt isotopes source, which is said to be expiring in the month of February, 2015 in Radiation Oncology Department, Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai and to direct the respondents to provide Brachy Therapy Treatment facility to the cancer patients in Radiation Oncology Department, Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai.

2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that for the benefit of cancer patients, the Government is going to shortly inaugurate a Regional Centre at Balarengapuram, Madurai. He would further submit that almost 75% of the work has been completed in respect of the same and if such project is put in place again, all the facilities, that are sought for by the petitioner in the Writ Petition, would be made available in that Centre. The said statement is recorded. 3.This Writ Petition is accordingly disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
