ORDER
This writ petition has been filed to forbear the respondents 2, 3 and 8 from granting any permission to conduct stage meetings or programmes or gatherings in front of the petitioner's Cinema Theatre Complex situated in Town Survey No.19 and 20 of Kovilpatti Town, located at Door No.798 Main Road, Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi District, by considering the representations dated 29.01.2024 and 29.02.2024.
2. The petitioner claims that he is a partner of Sathiyabama Cinema Theatre. He submits that the respondents Police are granting permission to the political parties and other religious functionaries to conduct public meeting, by erecting stages in front 3/6
of the theatre, which is situated on the main road of Kovilpatti Town and allowing a huge gathering in front of the theatre. Therefore, the visitors of cinema theatre, commuters and public are affected. In this regard, he made representations dated 29.01.2024 and 29.02.2024 to the respondents 1, 4, 7 and 8 not to permit any gathering, public meetings and other programmes in front of the cinema theatre. Since there was no response, he has filed this writ petition.
3. Today, when the matter is taken up for consideration, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice if the petitioner's representations dated 29.01.2024 and 29.02.2024 are directed to be considered by the respondent Police within a stipulated time.
4. In view of the said submission, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents Police to consider the case of the petitioner, by considering his representations dated 29.01.2024 4/6
and 29.02.2024 and take a decision within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 01.08.2024 Index : Yes / No.
