O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents 1 and 2 to give necessary police protection to the life and limb of the petitioner and her husband Balu, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 14.03.2016.

2. It is seen that the petitioner was in love with one Balu and got married to him on 22.10.2015. It is an inter-caste marriage. The third respondent is the father of the petitioner and it is alleged by the petitioner that the third respondent is not happy with the marriage.

3. It is seen that the petitioner has given a complaint dated 14.03.2016 by post. In Lata Singh vs. State of U.P. [2006

(5) SCC 475], the Hon'ble Supreme Court has stated that instrumentalities of State should encourage the inter-caste marriages.

Under such circumstances, this Court directs the petitioner and her husband Balu to appear before the Superintendent of Police, Pudukottai and submit a representation within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and the Superintendent of Police, Pudukottai is directed to enquire into the same and take action in accordance with law.

With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
