This Criminal Original Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to give police protection to the petitioner and his wife for their life and limb, based on his complaint dated 10.03.2016.

2. It is seen that the petitioner was in love with one Vinothini and got married to Vinothini on 11.03.2016 and that it is an inter-caste marriage. Since Vinothini went missing, her father Velusamy lodged a complaint for girl missing and also filed H.C.P.No.374 of 2016 before this Court. It appears that Vinothini was produced before the Division Bench of this Court, on 30.03.2016, and she expressed her willingness to go with the petitioner.

3. In Lata Singh vs. State of U.P. [2006(5) SCC 475], the Hon'ble Supreme Court has stated that instrumentalities of State should encourage the inter-caste marriages.

Under such circumstances, if there is any threat to the petitioner and his wife, it is open to them to immediately approach the concerned Superintendent of Police and lodge a complaint and the Superintendent of Police is directed to enquire into the same and take action in accordance with law. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
