This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents herein to grant permission and police protection to conduct the Chithiral Festival from 20.04.2025 to 22.04.2025 and the cultural programs Sri Valli Thirumanan Nadakam to be held on 21.04.2025 and Gramiya Kalai Nikalchi to be held on 22.04.2025t in pursuant to the Chithirai Festival of Arulmigu Sri Mariamman Temple, Sri Selva Vinayagar Temple, Sri Krishna Temple, and Sri Kaavadikkal Temple at Rengaiyan Sayrvaikaranpatti, Sendurai village, Natham Taluk, Dindigul District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 25.03.2025. 2/5
2.According to the petitioner, he is the village head of the Rengaiyan Sayrvaikaranpatti and the Villagers decided to conduct festival from 20.04.2025 to 22.04.2025 for the above said temples on the eve of Chithirai festival. While so, they sent a representation, dated 25.03.2025 seeking permission to conduct festival and cultural programme on 21.04.2025 and 22.04.2025, but the same has not been considered. Hence this petition.
3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police would submit that there are two rival groups claiming rights to conduct the festival and the petitioner belongs to one of the groups and they decided to conduct the festival from 21.04.2025 to 24.04.2025 and decided to conduct cultural programmes on 21.04.2025 and 22.04.2025. The petitioner's representation is under consideration and the same will be considered and disposed of within a period of one week.
4.Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for in this petition, this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation and grant permission by imposing certain conditions in 3/5
accordance with law.
