O R D E R

The petitioner has filed Crl.OP(MD) No.22784 of 2024 for transfer of investigation in Crime No.42 of 2023 from the file of the District Crime Branch, Kanyakumari District to the Superintendent of Police (Southern Region), Economic Offence Wing, Ashok Nagar, Chennai. While hearing the Criminal Original Petition, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the case in Crime No.42 of 2023 has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing in the month of May 2025 and they were taking earnest efforts to identify the property of the accused for attachment and also for securing the accused. Recording the aforesaid submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Court, by its order, dated 30.06.2025 closed that petition with a direction to the third respondent to identify the property of the accused and take necessary steps to attach the property at the earliest.

2.Now, the petitioner has moved this contempt petition that the respondent police has not complied with the above order of this Court.

3.Mr.S.Prakash, learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) takes notice for the respondent and submitted a Status report of the Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Chennai, dated 06.04.2026, which reveals that they have identified some of the immovable properties of the accused persons and they are awaiting for approval from the Government to attach the same. Moreover, the Bank accounts of the accused persons were frozen; look out circulars have been issued to secure the accused; few accused persons have also been arrested and the interrogation is under process.

4.Recording the aforesaid status report filed by the Superintendent of Police, Economic Offence Wing, Chennai, this Contempt petition is closed, with a direction to the respondent police to conclude the investigation as expeditiously as possible. 06.04.2026 Index:Yes/No vrn 4/6
