This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the third and fourth respondents to provide adequate police protection and also prevent people from causing problems at the time of offering prayers. 2.According to the petitioner, he is the Muthavalli of Al Jamiul Munavvar Masjid Jamath Committee, Karaikudi, Sivagangai District. While so, the petitioner group want to offer prayers on the eve of Ramzan festival on 31.03.2025 and some of the office bearers of the other Jamath acting on their own whims and fancies and trying to create law and order issue and clash between two groups. Therefore, the petitioner sent the representation dated 05.03.2025, but the same has not 2/5
been considered. Hence this petition.
3.The learned Government Advocate appearing for the first respondent would submit that the first respondent received the petitioner's representation and today they fixed the peace committee meeting between the rival groups and the prayer of the petitioner is only to give police protection for the worship on 31.03.2025. 4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police would submit that they have received the petitioner's representation and the same was referred to the revenue authorities concerned and they have to take appropriate steps by conducting peace committee meeting. However, the respondent police will provide police protection for the prayers to be offered by the public in the above said Jamath.
5.Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for in this petition this Court directs the respondents 1 to 4 to take adequate steps for the peaceful prayers of the public in the above said Jamath and the petitioner is also directed to co-operate for the peaceful worship. 3/5
