ORDER
This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to give necessary permission and protection for cultural event namely Sri Valli Thirumanam Nadagam scheduled to be held on 19.04.2026 from 10.00 p.m. to 06.00 a.m. in connection with Chithirai Thiruvizha of Arulmigau Karpaga Ayyanar, Periya Karuppu, Chinna Karuppu, Karadi Karuppasamy, Maravan Marathi, Andichamy, Vellaiyammal, Ucchaiyammal, Ponnazhagi and Kannimar Temple at Karuparpatti, Singampunari Taluk, Sivagangai District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 12.03.2026.
2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that, in view of the tussle between two groups claiming rights to conduct the temple festival, the 2/4
matter has already been forwarded by the respondent police to the concerned Tahsildar. Accordingly, it is for the jurisdictional Tahsildar to constitute a peace committee and thereafter resolve the dispute between the two groups. The Tahsildar, Singampunari, Sivagangai District is suo motu impleaded as the third respondent, and Mr. C. Satheesh, learned Government Advocate, takes notice on his behalf.
3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials placed before this Court.
4. Considering the facts and circumstances of this case, the third respondent is directed to conclude the peace committee within a period of one week from the date of receipt of copy of this order and facilitate proper conduct of the temple festival amicably with both groups participating peacefully.
5. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. 25.03.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No sm 3/4
