... For Petitioner : Mr.I.Robert Chadra Kumari For Respondent : Mr.D.Venkatesh 1/4

ORDER

Heard both sides.

2. The petitioner's son Suga Dev was born on 13.05.1986 at Johns Medical Centre, Karaikudi. However, his date of birth was entered in the registrar of birth as 21.08.1986. The petitioner wants correction of the same. The petitioner's son is presently working in Singapore. In the passport and all other records, his date of birth has been mentioned only as 13.05.1986. Because of the discrepancy between the entry in the passport and the entry in the birth certificate, the petitioner's son is said to be facing some difficulties. Therefore, the petitioner seeks correction.

3. The respondent is the competent authority. I am satisfied that the case for correction has been made out. The respondent is directed to issue a revised brith certificate to the petitioner by mentioning the date of birth of the petitioner's son Suga Dev as 13.05.1986. In the register of birth, the date of birth originally entered shall be rounded off and it shall be mentioned as 13.05.1986. In the birth certificate, the revised date of birth alone shall be mentioned. This shall be done within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. The Writ Petition is allowed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
